Rail Fan trips are sometimes organized by the Society for those members interested in a particular aspect of prototype railroading.

CMRS Rail Fan Event – Sunday, July 10, 2016

The Calgary Model Railway Society, in conjunction with Aspen Crossing, will be offering an event on Sunday, July 10, 2016. This event will be a train ride on Aspen Crossing’s new train and includes a boxed lunch. This trip is the same as the “Champagne Brunch” trip described on the Aspen Crossing Website but without the “Champagne” portion of the trip, we will be having a boxed lunch instead. There is only limited space in the Buffet car for the “Champagne” service, but plenty of seating in the cars, so Aspen Crossing has offered us a special reduced price of $85 for 2 tickets (instead of the normal price of $170 for the Sunday Special).

The train has recently added a number of passenger cars from the Ontario Northland Railway including a Dome car. To ride in the Dome car would be an additional $25 per person.

The trip travels across the prairies to the town of Mossleigh where the tracks end. Train departs at 11:00 AM and Returns at 2:00 PM. Note that it takes an hour, to an hour and a half, or more, to get to Aspen Crossing from Calgary, depending on where in the city you live. Leave plenty of time to get there as there is some road construction going on in the area. More information is available on the Aspen Crossing website at http://www.aspencrossing.com/

Tickets are limited, to make your booking contact Aspen Crossing at 1-866-440-3500, mention the code word “CMRS” to get the discount.
