Mini Meets are one-day model railway events for members of the CMRS and usually include clinics, displays (Show and Tell), related activities, and sometimes lunch.

Other events, such as the following, are sometimes combined with a particular mini meet:

  • Annual General Meeting of the CMRS -- go to Fall 2021 AGM
  • CMT's (Calgary Model Trainmen's) Fleamarket

The presentation will show how the CPR pioneered a communication system before it became a transportation system.
11:00-12:00 Ken Clark: Silversmith Power Plant
The clinic is based on the Hydro/Diesel Power plant constructed by Silversmith Mines in 1921 to supply compressed air and electrical power to their mine and mill located in Sandon BC. The plant is still in operation, suppling electrical power to the grid. It will cover the intakes, wood stave piping and
equipment in the plant itself. I am slowly scratch building various items for the plant’s interior equipment. Also, the clinic will look at the Taylor Hydraulic air compressor which operated at Coffee Creek located South of Ainsworth which supplied a number of mines'

(Follows AGM) Rob Badmington: Rail – From Mill to Main Line
From Mill to Main Line Rail is the most fundamental component of railroads, and this clinic will take you on a photographic journey through every aspect the product. See how rail is made, transported, welded, installed, maintained, cascaded, repurposed, and ultimately, recycled. The presenter spent much of his career with both major Canadian railways in the engineering and purchasing functions, dealing specifically with rail. Some of his behind-the-scenes photos cannot be seen anywhere else.
